much more easily when found earlier.
The following three tests are effective at identifying problems early—before serious problems occur. First, screening for colon cancer is very important after 50 years of age. A colonoscopy is an exam performed by a gastroenterologist to look for signs of colon cancer. Once the test is done and results are negative, another test usually isn’t needed for another 10 years.
Second, diabetes screening is very important for men of all ages. For men in their 20’s and 30’s, a test every 3 years is sufficient. For men about 40, a fasting blood sugar check should be done every one to two years. Finding out about diabetes early can reduce your risk for the complications of diabetes.
Finally, testosterone screening can help find the cause for symptoms like sexual difficulties, fatigue and depression. A simple blood test is all it takes to get you on the road to feeling better.
Please take the time during the month of June to make an appointment with your physician to update your health screenings. The physicians and staff at Holy Cross Family Clinic are available to help if you don’t have a physician.
