    Dr. D's Medical Update

As in past years, May is Arthritis Awareness Month and I’d like to use this month’s article to discuss the more common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis (OA). According to the Arthritis Foundation website, www.fightarthritispain.org, 27 million Americans have and live with osteoarthritis. I often tell patients that OA is “wear and tear” arthritis.

    Dr. D's Medical Update

For the beginning of spring, I’m going to cover two topics this month. I’ve been encouraged recently by some of my patients who have taken charge of their health and made dramatic changes. For some, it was beginning to pay attention to their diet and start losing weight. For others, it was simply starting to take their medications as we discussed and thereby getting control of their conditions.

Passion and Strong Sense of Community Drive
Dr. Rowland Reyna and the HealthTexas Medical Group

Over the past several years, NSIDE MD has had the pleasure of profiling some of the leading medical professionals in our community, including several who have been voted as Top Doctor in San Antonio® or even Texas Super Doctor®. However, it is a rare opportunity to profile someone selected as one of the Best Doctor’s in America®, a tremendous honor bestowed by Harvard University.  It’s even more special to find someone who has received that recognition for the last 17years, consecutively.

    Dr. D's July Medical Update

Posted: Sunday, July 1, 2012 by Dr. Michael Dominguez

For the month of July, I'm going to take a different approach with this article. More and more, I'm seeing patients who need to make changes in their lives. Some of the changes need to be drastic, others are relatively small. In all cases, the change can result in a significant benefit, but it is still a difficult process.

Posted: Friday, May 4, 2012 by Dr. Michael Dominguez

This May, as we should be preparing for Mother's Day, I am preparing to observe the holiday without my mom for the first time. My mom, Frances Chaires Dominguez, passed away two days after Valentine's Day in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Thankfully, I was able to see and speak with her before she died. As a result of my mom's death, I would like to share some insights gathered through the course of her illness.

April 2011 has been designated Alcohol Awareness Month. As the weather gets warmer and it becomes time for barbeques, picnics, and Fiesta, I thought it would be a good time to discuss issues about alcohol abuse. I am very familiar with this subject and thought that by sharing my experiences, I might bring the issues a little closer to home.
